LEARNING CENTER
The Burbank Recycle Center’s Learning Center offers exciting educational experiences for residents of all ages. Its purpose is to provide information to residents regarding the City’s waste management programs, encourage waste reduction, entertain and educate at all levels, assist in finding markets for recycled materials, and act as a clearing house for recycling information. For more information about any of the programs listed below, please call the Recycle Center at (818) 238-3900.
STORM DRAIN EXHIBIT. This lively hands-on exhibit clearly and entertainingly demonstrates what happens when pollutants are washed down storm drains and how we can keep our waterways safe for human, plant, and animal life.
BUY RECYCLED EXHIBIT. This exhibit provides a glimpse of how soda bottles are made into shirts, waste paper into paper towels, glass bottles into kitchen tiles, and cans into lawn furniture or building materials.
REFERENCE MATERIALS LIBRARY. Videos and literature about recycling a variety of materials, composting, landfills, or scavenging are available for viewing or borrowing.
REFERENCE LIBRARY. Every year the Recycle Center assists hundred of residents, students, businesses, and nonprofit organizations with recycling projects and questions.
SPEAKERS' BUREAU. Center staff welcomes the opportunity to speak about recycling and the City’s waste reduction, recycling, and composting programs.
TOURS. Approximately 1,500 school children and adults tour the Recycle Center each year, see a video, check out the worm and compost bins, see Recyclamania and other exhibits, and take away a recycled souvenir.
BURBANK RECYCLE CENTER TOURS are now limited mainly to members of the Burbank community since the demand for tours has been overwhelming. If you are a school or organization outside of Burbank that is interested in waste reduction, recycling and composting, please call the Recycle Center at 818-238-3900 and ask for the list of educational opportunities available for schools, classes or groups in the Los Angeles area. |
