RECYCLABLE MATERIALS
The City of Burbank Public Works Department provides a curbside Automated Collection Program for the collection of refuse, recyclables, and green waste at all single-family residences and multi-family residences of four units or fewer. For information regarding what to place in the curbside blue recycling container, please visit the Street and Sanitation Division Blue Container web site. Call the Recycle Center (BRC) at (818) 238-3900 for information regarding multi-family residence and business recycling. There is no extra charge for business or multi-family recycling. For information regarding California Refund (or Redemption) Value (CRV) on bottles and cans, call the BRC or 1-800-RECYCLE (1-800-732-9253). MATERIALS ACCEPTED AT THE BURBANK RECYCLE CENTER. The following materials are accepted at the Buyback/Dropoff Center at the Burbank Recycle Center at 500 South Flower Street from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday and 8am-4pm Saturday. For information regarding California Refund (or Redemption) Value on bottles and cans, call the Recycle Center at (818) 238-3900 or 1-800-RECYCLE (1-800-732-9253).
Paper
How to prepare: Separate all grades as listed above. No need to remove stamps, staples, tape, glue, clips, or plastic windows. Place each item in the proper bin at the Recycle Center.
Do not recycle: Packaging made of a mixture of both paper and plastic, metallic papers, carbon paper, and blueprints.
Metal Aluminum beverage cans and aluminum food cans (e.g. cat food cans) Steel/tin food and beverage cans Aerosol NON-hazardous cans (completely empty) Clean aluminum foil and foil food trays Other scrap metal (screens, chairs, small pieces of pipe, cooking pots, etc.)
How to prepare: Empty and rinse containers.
Do not recycle: Hazardous aerosol cans (spray paint, bug spray, etc.), and other hazardous waste ( paint, chemicals, pesticides, medicines, etc.). Visit the Household Hazardous Waste page for information on how to dispose of these materials.
Glass Containers All glass bottles and jars (mayonnaise, apple juice bottles, wine and liquor bottles, etc.) CA redemption bottles (beer, juice, wine coolers, etc.)
How to prepare: Separate by color (clear, brown, green). Place blue glass bottles with the green bottles. No need to remove labels. Remove lids and empty. Rinse if necessary to remove residue.
Do not recycle: Drinking glasses, ceramics, dishes, mirrors, window glass, and light bulbs.
Plastic Bottles Water bottles Juice bottles One and two liter soda bottles Milk and water jugs Detergent/cleaning product bottles Personal care bottles While most plastic bottles are coded 1 (PET) or 2 (HDPE), the Burbank Recycle Center accepts all household bottles coded 1 through 7.
How to prepare: Remove lids. Empty and rinse if necessary. Flatten if possible. Separate bottles by code and place them in the labeled bins at the Recycle Center.
Do not recycle: Plastics that are not bottles and polystyrene (styrofoam). Please return plastic grocery bags to supermarkets where they are readily recycled or take them to the Recycle Center.

How to prepare: Place these items carefully in the electronics bin at the Recycle Center. If you have numerous computers, monitors, printers, etc., please call the Recycle Center so that we can put you in direct contact with the recyclers of quantities of these products.

If you are a business or have large quantities of a material, please call the Burbank Recycle Center at (818) 238-3900. We may have places where you can take the material directly or companies that will pick it up from you. There are also state and county agencies that have free materials exchange programs. |
